Just some videos...

Ethan has taught Emerson how to spin around and around in circles. She loves it and giggles as she's spinning, but gets very angry when she can't walk! Again, sorry these videos are so bad.

NO, Emerson!

I know this is horrible, but I love to see Emerson's face when she's mad! I tried to capture her getting angry with me, but I was a bit too late. You can see some of her anger at me though! Ethan was playing a preschool "game." He already recognizes and can write all of the alphabet, but this website helps him learn how to sound things out. Essentially it's geared towards beginning to read. I was a very young reader and I think he will be too. For those of you with preschoolers, the website is www.starfall.com His teachers told me about it today and I think it's great.

The New King

We do a lot of "stories without books" around our house. Ethan sits there and listens so intently on every word I say. I thought I'd share his favorite "story" with you all.

The New King

There once was a man named King Frogwart. He had three beautiful little girls, but never had a son. He was getting old and decided that he needed a replacement king to rule his land.

He went out to the village and rounded up all of the little boys for an announcement. Just as he was about to begin his speech, he noticed a little girl in the crowd. "Little girl, why are you in the middle of all of these boys? I asked for little boys only."

"I want to know what the announcement is too," she replied.

Growing tired and not at all in the mood to argue, the king said, "Very well then. I'd like to make an announcement. I am looking for a special little boy to replace me as king."

"I want to be king," the little girl shouted.

"I'm sorry little girl, but only boys can be kings." He quickly chose a gorgeous little boy and moved on.

Several years later, that little boy became king. His name was "King Ethan." (Ethan of course smiles from ear to ear at this sentence!). He needed a queen, so he decided to have a dance off with all the young ladies from the village.

There was a beautiful young lady who won the dance off and her name was....ANNA! (Now can you imagine Ethan's face at THIS sentence?!). Yes, Queen Anna and King Ethan lived happily every after!!

Sorry to bore you all with this story, but my sweet boy is madly in love with his Anna and I wanted to make a permanent memory for him through my blog.

Apples!

Fee, Fie, Fo, Fum...

Drew spent the evening with us last night so that Heath and Mandy could celebrate their anniversary. It doesn't seem like it's been 4 years since I was a fat, sweating cow in their wedding! Ethan and Drew (well, I'm sure it was more Ethan than Drew!) decided that Emerson was a giant chasing them. Hold your ears while watching the very grainy video. After Mandy and Heath got back, we let the boys paint their pumpkins. We sent Chris and Heath out to get some for us to paint as well, but didn't feel like painting when they got back! They're such good sports anyway though!

Pajama Party!!!

We had our usual Tuesday night dinner with Heath, Mandy and Drew. Some guy at Walmart told Mandy and I about a pumpkin patch "just down the road," so we tried to find it after dinner. After we ended up in St. Pauls, we realized that he just wanted to flirt with Mandy and gave us false hope of a pumpkin patch (at least that's MY take on it)! We were all going to our respective homes when Mandy called saying that Drew was screaming for Bubba! They ended up coming over and making forts. Since it was already bedtime, I put their pj's on and found Ethan's Halloween pj's from last year for Drew. They were running around like crazy with Emerson right behind them!

Today we went to the Methodist Church for lunch and playtime. They played for a while until I was ready to go. Some of the moms eat right with the children, but I don't really feel comfortable, so I was hungry. We came home so I could eat and then went bike riding. Emerson is a master at helmet removal, so I'm going to have to figure something out with that helmet. Today I put it on backwards and she lasted about 20 minutes with it on. Then she figured out how to take it off. Ethan's such a big boy and wears his with no problem. His problem is his long legs! We really need to get him a bigger bike. I'm trying to wait until his birthday, but I don't know if he can keep riding it for that long!

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures. My camera has really been acting up lately. I never have ideas for Christmas presents when Chris asks me, but I certainly do this year!

Weekday School Sunday

Today was Weekday School Sunday at Ethan's school. It's basically introducing the children to the congregation by singing a few songs. Ethan did really well and sang songs that I didn't even know he knew. I put Emerson in the nursery and she cried the entire time, but no one came and got me. Am I upset? You bet. She was almost inconsolable for about 10 minutes after I picked her up, which is definitely not my little girl. Needless to say, she will not stay in that nursery again. After church, we came home for Emerson and Chris to nap while I took Ethan to the park. THEN...I painted a pumpkin! I bought a pretty big pumpkin yesterday while I was with Kim and she suggested I paint it...so I did! I am going to get a few more and do some other stuff with them, so I'll post those as soon as I paint them.

Tiny, but Tough!

Well, Emerson has her first fat lip. We were coming down the back porch steps (which as you know are brick) and she slipped and fell. She was scooting down on her bum and fell sideways, somehow. I was right in front of her, but couldn't tell you how it happened. Anyway, she cut her gum and that piece of skin that connects your lip to your gum. Ethan did the same thing a year or so back. After I got her all cleaned up, we went back outside to play on the play set. Low and behold, she fell again and bumped her head! It has not been her day. Ethan was so sweet saying, "I'm so sorry that Emerson's hurt." Then he got her a bowl of ice to chew on. He's so loving! The other pictures are of our fishing trip to the pond.

Memories...

Chris and I were looking at some old pictures tonight and thinking how fast our children have grown. It makes me so sad to see them grow so fast. I think Ethan's main objective in life right now is to be bigger than everyone else. Random people walk by us and he'll comment on how he's taller than them! I wish that they were little forever. :( Looking at old pictures makes me realize that I should slow down and enjoy my children even more than I do. I have only uploaded one video of Ethan when he was barely 2 1/2 years old. Hope everyone is doing well. It's interesting to see people checking out my blog, but NOT commenting. Thanks guys!

Splashin' and Fishin'!

We had company today! Kim , Janice, Shannon, Alex and Caroline came over to run through the sprinklers with Ethan. They had invited us to their house, but it was nap time for the little lady. We also filled the pool up before venturing to the backyard play set to fish. Yes, I said fish! Thankfully, we have three fishing poles. Kim tied whatever was closest to her to the end of the fishing line (straws and drink lids). They stood at the top of the play set and...fished! We always enjoy our time with the twins. They are such well behaved kids and they all play really well together. Enjoy the pictures in the web album!

Back to life as usual...

We've officially ended our last vacation for the year. I am definitely blessed with an extraordinary husband who allows us to do pretty much what we want without complaint. I am so thankful for him. On a less mushy note...we had a great time at the beach. We pretty much hung out at the pool most of the time, going to the beach here and there. It's much easier to keep Emerson contained at the pool as she has zero fear of the ocean. Ethan is my little fish, so he was in his glory swimming all day.

I took the kids to see an IMAX movie at Broadway at the Beach. Yeah, that was fun (I'm being very facetious). Carrying Emerson, the diaper bag, 3D glasses, popcorn and a drink was not easy. I have a new respect for single moms! Although seeing the pure amazement on my little boys face was completely worth it. I love seeing him beam with joy. We had some time to kill before the Dolphins & Whales movie started, so we played a round of mini golf. We made it to the 16th hole and the dragon came out. That was it for Ethan. It was really close to the hole that we were on and scared him. He said that the dragon, "had mean eyes." Nevermind the fire breathing out of his mouth! After the movie ended, I let Ethan play in the fountain outside of the theatre. He had a blast karate chopping the water. Then we walked around the water and played at the park. It was certainly a big day for all of us.

We've also done a lot of shopping for fall clothes for the kids. I got their costumes this week, but I'm not sure if I'm keeping them or not. I'm keeping the receipts in case I see something else that I like.

The world lost a sweet woman yesterday. Mrs. Betty Ray Brisson passed away yesterday morning unexpectedly. She was not a well woman, but it was still a big shock to the Brisson and Hardin families. I am so sad for all of them. Kim and I were talking yesterday about how she is now with Jesus and wouldn't come back down here for anything! Please keep them all in your prayers, especially Mr. Brisson. I can't imagine after almost 60 years of marriage, losing your spouse. Janice, Maurice, Kim, Waylon, Shannon, Ben, Alex, Caroline, Jim, Erin and Mr. Brisson, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

We're having a wonderful time at the beach, although our fourth piece of the pie isn't with us. I just wanted to upload a few photos for you to see, Chris. We miss you!!!

Graffiti in the Oaks!

Big Lots had sidewalk paint on sale today, so Ethan and I decorated the walkway. Emerson kept walking through it, so at one point I let her play up on the porch. She was trapped and not very happy! We didn't do much today. Lots of coloring and working in Ethan's preschool books. He loves connect the dots, mazes and writing his letters/numbers. Let's see how long that lasts! My mom and RT are coming tomorrow night since we'll be going to the beach on Saturday. Hopefully we won't have to deal with all of these hurricanes. It seems they always follow me...

Let's Play Dress Up!

Ethan found all of his old costumes this evening, so of course we had to play dress up! Emerson actually didn't get upset wearing Ethan's first Halloween costume. We were surprised! After picking Ethan up from school, I took them to Chestnut Street United Methodist Church for some play time. They have a really nice program on Wednesday afternoons for preschoolers. They have a light lunch and lots of activities. Emerson even got in on the action! I've also included a video of our evening.

Rest in Peace, Stimpy. 1994-2008

We had to put our beloved Stimpy to sleep this morning. She had been losing weight rapidly within the last few weeks. Chris took her to the vet this morning and they said they could run some tests, but the outcome would most likely be incurable cancer. It's certainly been a sad day in the Moore home today. Chris had a really hard time at the vet's office. When he got home, Ethan started crying and saying that he wanted Stimpy back from heaven. Then he wanted to know who would take care of her up there. She's now sleeping peacefully in Jesus' lap. Sweet dreams, Stimp. We'll miss you.

Sprinkle,Sprinkle!

Chris and I took both kids to the doctor this morning because they have had a runny nose and low grade fever. We were not going to take Emerson because she seemed to be getting better, but I told Chris to have her checked out just in case (he took her while I got ready and then I met them there). Thank God we did because SHE has strep, not Ethan! Of course they are both being treated since he'll surely get it. I just pray that we don't.

They were getting restless being in the house all day, so I turned the sprinklers on and let them run through them. Ethan was "fighting" the water with his sword while Emerson submersed herself in it as much as she could. After they had enough of that, I filled up the baby pool. Emerson kept getting in and out. When she'd get back in, she'd tumble completely under water and keep on truckin'! She may look frilly, but she's a tough one! At one point I told Ethan to stop splashing her. As soon as I told him to stop, she grabbed the hose and kept spraying him in the face! The water hose was retired from then on! Then we came in and I gave them popsicles and Ethan had to have his carrots. I personally think he was stalling because it was nap time.

Speaking of carrots...I need ideas on a brother/sister costume idea. Someone told me to have them be peas and carrots. If she was a boy, I'd have him be a firefighter and her a Dalmatian. I need to tell my sister-in-law about that one since her oldest loves firefighters. Ethan keeps saying that he wants her to be a princess and him a knight. Then I was thinking Peter Pan and Wendy or Tinkerbell, but I don't know about Peter Pan...you know. Anyway, any ideas would be really helpful.
