Play date at the park

The kids had a play date yesterday with a few of their friends. We took them to Luther Britt Park, which was a nice change. They played on the playground and went on a treasure hunt. It was COLD, but worth it. I've added lots of photos to the album.

Emerson is very excited to see her Grandpa or should I say, "Pam-pa." She ran up to Mr. Buddy Jones the other day yelling, "Pam-pa!" Now every time she sees a man with white hair and a beard, she starts yelling at them too! I think that talking to Grandpa on Skype helped her memory! Hold on to your seat, Glenn, but she even yelled it at the TV this morning when Joe Biden came on! We'll definitely work on that one! I think the kids need a fix of some Grandma and Grandpa, so hurry up guys!

Whistle While You Work

Ethan has finally mastered the art of whistling. He has let out a whistle here and there, but he's actually got it down this time. He's so excited! You can slightly hear it on the video. Also on the video is Emerson sharing the community apple. Well, by community I mean her and Ethan. And yes, I peel apples like potatoes around here. If I don't, Emerson walks around spitting the peel out on the floor. Lovely. Off to Exploration Station...can't wait for warm weather!!

Dance Party 2009!

Chris had to work late tonight, so after dinner, the kids and I partied like rock stars. We blasted the Kidz music station and had a ball. Here's a picture of our tired out children and a very grainy video.

This video is of Emerson this morning while Ethan was at school. When I was little, my mother and father did something to us called the "eh eh monster." They would hold us down and lick our cheeks while chanting "eh eh eh..." I know, disgusting. I would laugh hysterically, but I hated it! I have a new and improved version for my kids. I still chant the same thing, but I ONLY tickle them. They love it...although in 30 years I may find out the truth...;)

Update

I don't have any pictures or videos to post today. Things have been pretty normal around here lately. Ethan is doing extremely well working on his letters. He recognizes and can write all but a few lowercase letters and has known all of his uppercase letters for quite some time now. Now trying to teach him how to read will be tough for me. I don't even know where to start. He's such a bright child that I know he won't have much trouble, but it's all so new to me. He absolutely loves sitting down and writing out his letters and numbers. I mean for a good hour or so at a time. It amazes me how he can go from running and playing to sitting and working on his "homework."

Emerson really enjoys when I read to her, especially the touch and feel books or ones with babies in them. She adores her babies. She feeds them their bottles and pats their back. It's so funny to see this little 18 month old with all this wild hair acting like an adult! I thank God everyday for my children!

A touch of New Hampshire

The kids and I packed up Thursday afternoon for Rock Hill. My Aunt Kathy and second cousin, Zachary (11 years old) were flying in for the weekend and I had to pick them up at the airport on Friday. We spent the day visiting and playing Wii. Zachary had never played it before and let's just say he liked it A LOT. Then we just HAD to eat at the Golden Corral because they don't have buffets back home like they do down here. If they do have them, they're extremely expensive. On Saturday we drove to Columbia to spend some time with my grandmothers brother and his children. My great uncle had a stroke about 2 months ago now. Unfortunately, one of the worst things to happen to him was that one of his eyes crossed and he sees double. He is now forced to wear an eye patch to try and correct it. He told us that when he sees a good looking woman, he takes his patch off so that he can see two of them! He's a wonderful soul, just like his big sister was. On Sunday, we hung out at the mall most of the day and then were stuck in traffic for what seemed like hours. Luckily, we know some back roads! My mom drove them to the airport bright and early Monday morning, so mom and I did a little bit of shopping around Rock Hill. I bought Emerson three pairs of shoes for $3.00 a piece! That was the thrill of my day. I lead such an exciting life.

I was going to come home Tuesday afternoon, but Aunt Kathy left some of the white stuff down here! I was stranded in Rock Hill! It was okay though. We played outside a lot. When Emerson looked out the window she said, "Santa!" She thinks that everything winter (Snowmen, snow, etc.) is Santa. I had to improvise with some socks for mittens, but other than that, I had everything that they needed for warmth. We are home safe now and it feels good to be with my husband!
